By Bake With Love - FB - I came across my Moms famous molasses cookie recipe. Thought I would share it with you.
Ingredients
Cookies:
Vegetable Shortening: 1 Cup
Granulated Sugar: 1 Cup
Molasses (Grandma's Or): 3/4 Cup
Cold Water: 1 Cup
Flour: 4 Cup
Baking Soda: 2 TSP
Ginger (Ground): 1 TSP
Table Salt: 1 TSP
Vanilla Extract: 1 TSP
Frosting:
Powdered Sugar: 2 Cup
Unsalted Butter (Softened): 1 Stick
Vanilla Extract: 1 TSP
Milk: 2 TBSP
Instructions
Cookies:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix Crisco and sugar together.
Add molasses, eggs, vanilla and water. Mix well.
Combine dry ingredients and add to the creamy mixture. Mix well. Use a small ice cream scoop or a tablespoon and drop onto a cookie sheet or parchment paper.
Bake for 9 minutes. Do not over bake. These are very soft cookies and they freeze Well! Cool and frost! I get 36 cookies from one batch.
